Widgets for Nokia 5800 and other Symbian Devices

Good morning,

During these days I've been trying the Nokia WRT Extension for Adobe Dreamweaver and I created a couple of widgets that might be useful for Nokia users like me.

One of them is to easily access the Google Mobile Apps and the other one is to access the TripIt mobile website. As it it really easy to code simple things and a lot of APIs are available around I may code some more in the future and share them with all of you.

For now, you can download and install the ones I told you above :)

Sometimes we think that something is really easy to understand...but we are not able to explain it to others. Maybe it's because we don't understand it so well? Einstein was probably not the best teacher in the world, but he said really clever things about "teaching & understanding". One of them is this sentence I found around the Internet.

Internet is for Porn!

Too many times I've listen to the sentence: "Internet is for Porn!"... and ...I didn't know it was so true until last week when I read an article about the development of The Internet thanks to porn...

Some really useful services developed in the last years such as the on-line payment systems, the streaming of contents, live chats, higher bandwidths, Traffic Optimisation and even 3G Mobile Services have grown thanks to Porn spreading in the Internet.

This improvements have also some inconveniences associated: the Spam, Malware, pop ups and pop unders, ... Anyway, as you can see Porn was helpful for the development of The Network and its services. It's true that we have to be thankful to the US Defence Department and ARPANET.....but also to Porn :D

Free WiFi in T1 (Barajas Airport)

I'm sitting on the floor in front of the Easyjet check-in desks of T1 Barajas airport (from 326 to 346) and I discovered there's a free WiFi I can use. It's essid is Santa Barbara.

If you are passing by Madrid and you need some internet in the airport, it's a nice place to see the time passing fast.

It's now 3.30 in the morning...so let's wait for one more hour until they open the check-in.

See you in Bucharest, at least some of you :)

The beginning of the more classical China: Suzhou & Hangzhou

After Shanghai, the trip is continuing, now I am with my family in Hangzhou, after visiting Suzhou. The Chinese tradition says that those two cities conform the Terrene Paradise.

BIG letters for Business Cards

Some time ago, I realised that a lot of things that we want to make VISIBLE are really little and then invisible. I have some examples of that:

Posters where you want people to go to a Website and they put the address with a 10 points font near the corner.
Blogs where it is impossible to find the name of the author or his/her contact information.
Business Cards we give to inform about our name and our contact data...and we use an 8 points font for our name and our e-mail.

Yesterday I read a post in Guy Kawasaki's blog where he wrote about the Art of the Business card. Following his example I made my own:

Creative, with a BIG name and with clear contact information. If you want to be remembered and contacted; help the one who has to contact you to remember you.

To be unique is one of the secrets of success ;)

PM KT in Bucharest

Last weekend was really important for me because I could share the experience of organising the XIII Presidents' Meeting with the next organisers from BEST Bucharest.

We went to the mountains, to a place called Predeal to have a Motivation Weekend (Pictures) where we discussed about the organisation of a PM; how to plan it, how to deal with the organisers, how to keep the motivation during the long preparation time.

It was a pleasure to tell them how was the experience of BEST Valladolid organising PM and to see people smiling all the time, with the feeling that they are doing something big, something important for BEST but also for them; feeling that they are achieving their DREAM.

Besides the great time we had talking about PM, we had some time for sightseeing. On sunday we went to Sinaia to visit the Peles Castle and on Monday I had time to visit Bucharest (Pictures).

I felt like at home in Romania and I'm sure I will return to this wonderful country soon.

Why this is happening to me? What to DO when things Go wrong.

Usually, when something goes wrong or is not going as good as we wanted we ask ourselves a wrong question:

"Why this is happening to me?"

And a lot of negative thoughts cross our mind in that moment... we start to feel bad, to think that the problem is impossible to solve. We can do that or we can ask ourselves the correct questions, those that will help us to solve the problem or at least to face it with optimism.

What can I do to solve it?
What can I learn from that?
How can I make this issue useful for me and my team?

The correct questions content "I" and not "you". This way we don't focus on the others as the source of the problem but on us as the solution for it. The answer to them will lead you to find how to solve the problem or in the worst case, to learn how to do it better for the next time.

The first step to solve a problem is to understand it, to know its source and to analyse how it can affect you and your working team. Since then, you can work on finding the best end to this new opportunity for you to learn, to innovate in the art of problem solving.

The only advice I can give you about that if you're leading a project or if you do it in the future is:

"Don't focus on the problems you may have...but on the solutions you have to find"

Packing for a trip tips :)

During the exams period is really usual to let the imagination to fly and to think in what to do after finishing.

One option is to travel, and as usual students, we normally travel with a backpack. Also as normal students we let everything for the last moment...and finally, 20 minutes before leaving home we are still packing........Today, while thinking on my next destinations, I found a website with a lot of "How To's" and among them I've found two really useful for "always in the last moment" people like me.

The first one is about rolling clothes to put them in a backpack on a fast way...and without destroying them. You can take a look at it here.

The second one is for "always late" people and describes how to pack in 10 minutes or even less...great for improvised trips :)

Are leaders born or made?

Some people usually say that they are not born to lead, that they would never manage to be good leaders. That's something that each one of us has think some time. I'm sure of that.

Who had never think that something is impossible to do? Who had never forgot a dream because it was difficult to achieve?

Some people are natural leaders, they are born knowing how to lead, how to motivate people and with a vision to accomplish. Some examples of this kind of people are Gandhi, Mandela or Jesus Christ.

Others, the biggest majority, have to work really hard to be good leaders; it's necessary to read a lot of things, to fail a lot of times, but finally, with effort and perseverance, the inner leader inside us will go out.

It's necessary to find the mission we have to lead, to find the project that we dreamed and we have to find the team to achieve our vision. With those ingredients and the will to work, you have a lot of possibilities to be a good leader....this is the advice I can give you from my experience...some leaders are born leaders, but the biggest majority worked a lot to be one of them.

Everybody has a potential leader inside, let him express himself :)

A little effort can change a life...

Since I was really young, I had to hear this question from my father:

"Why aren't you looking to my eyes when you talk to me?"

My usual answer was to get angry and to stop talking to him, but my thought was that I had to change that because it causes a really bad impression.

In September 2005, I was selected as participant in a BEST Trainshop: bePROUD 2005 that took place in Kiten (Bulgaria). In that event, besides a lot of other things, they told me something that my father was telling me since a lot of time before:

"Eye contact is really important to be perceived as a trustworthy person"

Since then I started to think on looking to the others' eyes when I was talking to them, I tried it at home, looking at presenters eyes in the TV,... It was hard at the beginning cause it was tiring, difficult to do and even not comfortable. I started keeping the eye contact just with really close friends and gradually I expanded that behavior to the rest of the people until it became something automatic, not forced anymore. I noticed that, some time after internalizing it.

Now, two years after doing that big effort, it's easier for me to talk to people, to lead projects, to speak in front of an audience, ...

This little gesture: to focus on the other instead of on the environment when you are talking to somebody can change a lot your relationships, the way the people see you and even the future of your career.

It's an effort worth to do.

Hace tiempo que tenía este post pendiente pero no había encontrado el momento hasta ahora.

Durante los días 28, 29 y 30 de noviembre estuve en Madrid con Víctor en un Seminario para el Desarrollo de Habilidades Directivas y Empresariales organizado por Isban. Durante aquellos tres días, hubo presentaciones buenas, otras muy buenas y otras impresionantes.

Durante el día, 10 horas de presentaciones...bueno, alguna menos porque nos saltábamos las del Grupo Santander que eran un poco aburridas; y por las noches, un día toco de cañas, otro de cañas con unos iraníes y gente de BEST Madrid (las almejas estaban buenas, eh!) y la última noche tocó salir con los abuelos de BEST Valladolid.

Para terminar el periplo por la capi....al volver a Valladolid, nos compramos unos chalecos de Umaguaqueño en la Estación Sur por 2,5 €....con los que después salimos de fiesta en Valladolid. Pero esta historia...para otra vez :)

Seven habits of highly effective people

Today I have found a mindmap about leadership, about habits that can really help a leader to accomplish his tasks in a correct way.

Summarizing, a good leader should be highly efficient doing his job to be available for his team as much time as possible. For that Kaizad Irani described seven habits that a leader should have:

+Self Renewal: he has to mantain his motivation alive, and for that, mental and physical renewal are needed :)
+Synergy: it's basic for teamwork, it makes easier to solve the problems ;)
+Communication: without it...nothing is possible.
+Win-Win: everybody has to benefit from the work of the team.
+Personal management: a leader needs to have clear priorities and time management skills.
+Proactive: if the leader is not proactive...nobody will follow him.
+Goal Setting: make people dream on their goal...and they will achieve it :D

On my 22nd Birthday I had a great new...BEST Valladolid was selected to organise the XIII BEST Presidents' Meeting. One year later, the event took place between the 5th and the 11th November and one month after I can just say that it was another fu***** success, as we normally say after a great event in Valladolid.

It was a great honour to coordinate this bunch of people, always trying to help as much as possible, always with a smile on the face, always eager to help us to do it better, to improve what we were doing :D This people from Tallinn, Madrid, Barcelona and Valladolid...you just made it possible, be PROUD of that :)

Thanks for your work!

During this long year I learnt a lot about BEST, about life and about myself. I learnt that there's nothing that we cannot do...that DREAMS are not DREAMS anymore but REAL PROJECTS if we fight for them.

PM core...I have nothing to say about you, you know who you are, THANKs for being always there, for being great supporters and even better friends, THANKs for convincing me to take the challenge.

THANKs for being the soul of this project :)

Now I'm 23...and it's time for new challenges, new projects, and new surprises. It's time to remember PM as one of the happiest moments of my life and to look for an even better future.

La guerra que me ha dado el bichito...

Hoy por la tarde me entro un virus en el ordenador a través del Messenger. Era un archivo con una foto que al descargarla activaba al bicho. Si os envían un archivo acompañado de unas frases incoherentes, NO LO HABRÁIS!!!

Si de casualidad lo abrís y os infectáis, la solución no es muy complicada :) Sólo hay que seguir estos pasos:

1 - Cerrad el MSN.

2 - Entrad aquí y descargaos el programa:

Luego lo descomprimís y lo ejecutáis.( El ejecutable es 1 icono de 1 navaja multiusos). Una vez dentro, seleccionáis enable task manager y le dais a apply :

2 - Ya podéis entrar en el Administrador de Tareas (ver los procesos), con "control+alt+supr". Dentro, según los usuarios, a algunos les sale "yo_posse_007.jpg.exe", a otros "SP2.EXE"(mi caso) y a otros "Proyecto 1" (a mi también me aparecía este en el registro pero no en el administrador de tareas). Pues finalizáis la tarea del que veáis. Con esto el Virus ya no estará operativo, pero aún lo tendréis en el ordenador.

3- Luego vais a Inicio-BUSCAR-todos los archivos o carpetas y buscáis los tres de arriba(yo_posse_007.jpg.exe, SP2.EXE, Proyecto 1) así como "fotos_posse". (De uno en uno). En cuanto los vayáis encontrando, los borráis.

4 - Luego los borráis en el registro, para ello le dais a "Inicio-Ejecutar (Escribís dentro "regedit.exe") una vez dentro de ahí, arriba le dais a Edición y luego a buscar, y volvéis a escribir los 3 archivitos. Buscad también fotos_posse. (De uno en uno). Si os encuentra alguno, lo borráis.

5 - Actualizad antivirus y pasadlo.

25th BEST General Assembly

Some days ago, we left Valladolid to go to the 25th BEST General Assembly.

I was GA secretary there, and even if it's unbelievable...it was a wonderful work. It wasn't really hard to smile during 12 hours per day in the plenary, I was there because I wanted... feeling that my work was important for BEST :)

Now I' m at home, I feel that we did something important, a little group of people showed me that a better world is possible, that a lot of things can be improved, and that together we can do it!

After this GA, I discovered that with this people, everything is possible. My next challenge in BEST is to organize the XIII Presidents' Meeting. An event where I'll met again my friends, an event where BEST will go forward, the event where we can continue changing the World.

Hoy he decidido que es buena idea crear un blog...la verdad es que no se si será útil o no...o si lo voy a seguir usando en el futuro, pero para hoy esta bien.
No se lo que voy a contar o voy a dejar de contar aquí, no tendrá un tema fijo ni una frecuencia de actualización diaria...pero bueno, aquí está para el que lo quiera leer en sus ratos muertos :)
